Lip and Skin Tips for Winter!

Hiya Lovelies!

It’s winter- the harshest season on our lips and skin! The dryness of this season quickly sucks up all the moisture, causing chapped lips and cracked skin –ouch! Luckily, you have me here to tell you an easy way to get soft, moisturized, exfoliated lips and the best lotions to use during this season to get your skin back up to its best!

The Lips: All you need for this is a toothbrush, a washcloth, and your favorite moisturizing lip balm.
  1. Take your washcloth and wet a small corner of it under warm water. Take it and lightly pat against your lips to dampen them.
  2. Take your toothbrush and also run this under warm water. Rub your toothbrush in small, slow circles around your lips. This is exfoliating all the dry, dead, cracked skin! Remember to be very gentle, otherwise you could over do it!
  3.   Now, take a dry corner of your washcloth and lightly pat your lips to dry them.
  4.   Apply lip balm a minimum of 1-2 coats, depending on how greasy and heavy its consistency is. If it’s a lighter balm, go for about 1-3 coats; if it’s heavier, stick to 1-2 coats.

Viola! Super soft lips that are moisturized and exfoliated to face the rough winter months ahead.

The Skin: During this time of year, our skin can really start to dry up. If we don’t use the proper lotion, we can start to see dry flakes and cracks (some of which bleed- eek!). Our skin can start to feel tight and cause us pain if we try and move. I've compiled a few tips for lotion to help heal your skin!
  1.  Stick to lotions that have either Shea, cocoa, or almond butter. These are the best things for making skin smooth, moisturized, and tight (but not in a bad way! Plus they smell amazing!)
  2. Don’t over apply! If you over apply a lotion (especially after a hot bath- hot water opens up pores in the skin!) you could clog up the pores in your skin causing irritation and greasy residue caused by overload.
  3. Don’t under apply! Some people are afraid of the above, so they end up applying way less than they should be out of caution. Under applying is basically a quick fix, and can’t keep dryness at bay.
  4. Stick to about 1-2 pumps minimum per limb. This is a good starting range. After applying your 1-2 pumps minimum, you can tell if your skin needs more by simply checking to see if it has a greasy residue or if it still feels really dry. After checking, apply 1 pump extra until skin feels moisturized, but not greasy.

Well, there you go! Hopefully this will really help you this winter! We’d love to hear in the comments or at our email (go.lovely101@gmail.com) what tips you guys have and how these ones worked out for you, if you have a question, or what you’d like to see more of here at GoLovely.
